I CONGRESS ON AGRICULTURE, RURAL ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE IN SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA - 2008-03-02

Unións Agrarias - UPA organized in Santiago de Compostela the I Congress on Agriculture, Rural Environment and Climate Change. The goal was to analyze the challenges that agriculture in Galicia will have to face in response to climate change. Prestigious national and international experts participated in the event on February 28th and 29th. Aspects such as mitigation, adaptation, reuirements and opportunities in relation to the new climate scenario were presented by the speakers.

The event was held at the "Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Galicia", in the magnificent city of Santiago de Compostela. This first congress started with the objective of helping to put in touch the agriculture professionals of Galicia with scientists, researchers and experts in the field of climate change.

Pancho Campo, President of The Wine Academy of Spain, conducted 2 presentations during the congress. The first presentation was part of The Climate Project of Al Gore, held on february the 28th. On Friday the 29th, Pancho explained the impacts that climate change has in the wine industry.
